Fell small trees course includes 1 day of training and assessment.

Overview of Fell Small Trees course:

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to fell small trees where hazards have been assessed as low risk.

It is an introductory or base-level unit that covers felling procedures for small trees.

This unit applies to individuals who undertake defined activities with specialised tools and methods, work in a structured context, apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy and limited judgement, and provide solutions to a limited range of predictable problems.

Work is implemented with low-risk work procedures and to comply with Safe Work Method Statement documentation.

No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements are known to apply to this unit.

The unit applies to a chainsaw operator worker. If you’re using a chainsaw at work and felling trees, you need to be able to demonstrate that you’ve been properly trained and formally assessed.

Anyone operating a chainsaw and felling small trees should apply for this course.

Topic:

The course consists of the following topics:

  • Assist in preparation of work site.
  • Recognise and apply workplace safety procedures.
  • Check and prepare chainsaw and other tree felling equipment
  • Identify tree felling requirements
  • Prepare for tree felling
  • Operate chainsaw to fell trees
  • Complete and check chainsaw and tree felling operation.

Pre-Requisites of Fell small trees course (must first do):

You must first hold and provide LT Training with a copy of the below qualification (exact name and code) to be able to obtain the fell small trees unit. If you hold other chainsaw units, alternative arrangements can be made to complete a different tree felling unit. Please contact the office.

Fell Small Trees Course Delivery:

Fell Small Trees course is conducted in a classroom (face to face) and practical training is conducted at the LT Training facilities:

  • Sunshine Coast – Nambour facility at Youth Ave, PCYC Nambour, QLD, 4560
  • South Brisbane – Redland Bay – 882 German Church Rd, Redland Bay QLD 4165

Outcomes:

On successful completion of this course, participants will be issued a ‘Statement of Attainment’ certifying competence of the unit.

Course Delivery:

Fell small trees classroom (face to face) and practical training is conducted at the LT Training Nambour facility at Youth Ave, PCYC Nambour, QLD, 4560.

Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there are suitable facilities.

RPL:

LT Training does not offer RPL at this point in time due to the high-risk work activity and changing legislation.

Our certificates are run anywhere in Queensland by doing online and face to face training. These courses include CERT II IN HORTICULTURE AHC20422, CERTIFICATE III IN PARKS AND GARDENS AHC31021CERTIFICATE III IN BUSINESS BSB30120.
